Why choose PJ holster?

If you’re looking for a holster for that new gun you just bought, you have a couple of decisions to make right from the start. Probably the first and easiest is what material you want it made from. There are several options available on the market today including leather, nylon, elastic cloth, and the most popular, thermoplastics.

Leather holsters have been around for a long time and when made by a craftsman, can be a work of art. They are generally hand made with different colors and styles available.  If you are looking for something special to carry your gun in, leather may be the way to go. The downside is that the best can be very expensive.

If you are broke after shelling out your hard earned cash for the gun, you might have to go for something less expensive though not recommended; there are some very cheap nylon holsters. Unfortunately they do not fit your gun very well, they don’t remain open after drawing your weapon, and they don’t look very nice. Personally, I’d wait until I can afford something of quality before buying one of these holsters.

By far, the most common material used by holster makers today is one of the different brands of thermoplastics.    In the holster world, ‘Kydex’ has almost become an eponym similar to ‘Kleenex’ or ‘Band Aid’. In addition to Kydex, there are other brands of thermoplastics including Boltaron and Holstex. Each company makes excellent products that are well suited to the manufacture of gun holsters. The primary difference between the brands is cosmetic. Kydex comes in the most textures, colors, and graphics.

Everything from Blizzard White to Zombie Green is available.  Boltaron is a quality material similar to Kydex but doesn’t have the range of colors yet. Holstex is best known for its carbon fiber and leather texture patterns. Again, the full range of colors are available for custom holster makers.  There are also companies in the market today that infuse all kinds of graphics into thermo plastics. You can even provide a picture or custom logo and they will infuse for you holster maker.

At PJ Holster, we use all of the thermoplastic manufacturers in our holster line including the custom infused products. Check out our website www.pjholster.com to see the many options that are available for us to make you a custom gun holster base on your individual specifications.
